Black teas are fully oxidized prior to a final firing. Compared to other tea classes, they yield a darker, thicker, amber tinted liquor with medium to full astringency. Black teas are relatively high in caffeine, but still lower than a comparable cup of coffee. Fine with milk, honey, and lemon, these teas make an excellent breakfast tea or accompaniment to afternoon sweet and savory dishes. Many of our black teas are available in a range of sizes, including orange pekoe (OP) and higher. For a more complete listing of this nomenclature, please consult our chart shown on Tea Basics.
